Private Joseph McAbes

 

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that he was born around 1896.

Joseph McAbes enlisted in the North Irish Horse on 24 May 1915 (No.1587 – later Corps of Hussars No.71458). He trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp, remaining there until the end of the war.

On 23 January 1919 he was discharged, being 'surplus to military requirements, not having suffered impairment since entry into the service' (paragraph 392 xxv(a), King's Regulations).
